Deaf Services Queensland run a SMOKE ALARM SUBSIDY SCHEME
If you are Deaf or experience Hearing Loss, Deaf Services Queensland may be able to provide you with a subsidised smoke alarm that meets the needs of you and your family and keep you safe in your home.
It is imperative that every home in Queensland be fitted with a working smoke alarm. Standard smoke alarms are not effective at keeping deaf and hard of hearing people safe, so we have worked with the Queensland Government to bring you the Smoke Alarm Subsidy Scheme.
This is a great scheme that will help thousands of Deaf and hard of hearing Queenslanders fit their homes with a smoke alarm that through sight and feel, make you aware of a fire hazard and give you the time you need to evacuate to safety.
For more information about the scheme, please download the information available or contact our friendly staff at any time.
What type of smoke alarm do I receive?
The type of Smoke Alarm available under the Smoke Alarm Subsidy Scheme is a wireless alarm with a 10 year lithium battery, a vibration pad and flashing light.
